(3460) Reverse jet type automatic offtake regulator, Automatic reverse jet type outlet
A regulator designed with sill comprising two plates and a gap between them so that, with a rise in the water level, the water flows over the first plate and turns in the opposite direction through the gap, damping the flow through the orifice and thus keeping the discharge downstream practically constant. The plates may be (i) inclined, (ii) one vertical and the other a segmental shape to give semicircular flow, and (iii) one vertical and the other an aerofoil type. The offtake regulators are often designed according to the type of plates provided. Double inclined plate reverse jet type, semicircular jet type and aerofoil type off take regulators are shown in illustration.
